Title of Message: When Truth Is Revealed, Worship Must Follow

Delivered by: Deacon Kwesi

Luke 2:10–11 (KJV)

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

1. God Reveals Truth, But Man Must Respond

The shepherds heard. The angels spoke. But elsewhere in the world, men who had never seen an angel were also watching.

Matthew 2:1–2 (KJV) – “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”

These men travelled hundreds, possibly thousands of miles. No comfort. No guarantee. No applause.

Why?

Because truth had been revealed, and they acted on it.

Proverbs 8:17 (KJV) – “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”

They did not delay. They did not debate. They did not wait for convenience.

2. Truth Demands Action in the Present

The wise men did not say, “We’ll go later.”

They moved when the truth was revealed.

Contrast this with Herod!

Matthew 2:3 (KJV) – “When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.”

Same truth. Different response.

Truth either leads to worship or fear.

Hebrews 3:15 (KJV) – “While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.”

God always speaks in the present tense.

Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. Today!

3. They Knew Who He Was (God on Earth)

  • The wise men did not come to admire a baby.
  • They came to worship God incarnate.

Matthew 2:11 (KJV) – “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”

You do not worship a mere child.

You worship God.

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV) – “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

They knew exactly who stood before them.

4. The Gifts: A Picture of Life Itself

They brought gifts because everything they had was already a gift.

Gold. Frankincense. Myrrh.

Treasures they did not create from nothing.

Neither did we.

Acts 17:25 (KJV) – “Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things.”

  • We did not make ourselves.
  • We did not give ourselves breath.
  • We did not earn existence.

James 1:17 (KJV) – “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

  • The greatest gift God ever gave was life.
  • The greatest gift He ever revealed was His Son.

John 3:16 (KJV) – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

5. Our Only Right Response: Worship and Obedience

  • The wise men gave what they had.
  • Then they changed direction.

Matthew 2:12 (KJV) – “And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.”

Encountering Christ always changes your path.

Romans 12:1 (KJV) – “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

God does not ask for what He gave us.

He asks us to recognise it came from Him.

Closing: Call to the Present

  • The wise men did not delay.
  • They did not wait for understanding.
  • They moved when truth was revealed.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (KJV) – “For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

This Christmas, the question is simple:

When truth is revealed, will we act…

Just like the wise men did?
